This June there are awareness days for turtles, giraffes and wetlands as well as the UN's most important environmental day of the year, World Environment Day.

Date: 2nd June
World Peatlands Day was founded by the International Peatlands Society to promote the biodiversity, climate and horticulture issues in peatlands.
Date: 3rd June
World Bicycle Day is a UN designated day which draws attention to the benefits of using the bicycle which is a simple, affordable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation.
Bicycles contribute to cleaner air and less congestion and makes education, health care and other social services more accessible to the most vulnerable populations.

World Environment Day in the most important United Nations designated environmental day of the year.
It was created to raise awareness and generate political momentum around growing concerns, such as the depletion of the ozone layer, toxic chemicals, desertification and global warming.

The oceans are the lungs of our Planet and a major source of food and medicine and a critical part of the biosphere.
World Oceans Day is a UN designated day which intends to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world's oceans.

Lynx Day is a cross border project organised by partners and other NGOs, of public events and campaigns for this endangered species.
Year after year, more countries join in to raise awareness of the strictly protected and largest cat in the European forests.

Global Wind Day is a day for discovering wind energy, its power and the possibilities it holds to reshape our energy systems, decarbonise our economies and boost jobs and growth.

World Sea Turtle Day, is a day used to honor and highlight the importance of sea turtles, as well as promote ways to protect these beautiful creatures by keeping our seas clean and reducing our carbon footprint .

World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is a UN observance day which aims to raise awareness of the presence of desertification and drought, highlighting methods of preventing desertification and recovering from drought.

World Giraffe Day is organised by the Girafe Conservation Foundation.
It is a worldwide celebration of these amazing and much-loved animals, which also raises support, creates awareness and sheds light on the challenges giraffe face in the wild.

World Croc Day is a global day highlighting the plight of endangered crocdiles and raising awareness of these amazing creatures.
Date: June 22nd
World Rainforest Day celebrates the importance of healthy, standing rainforests for climate, biodiversity, culture, and livelihoods— and convenes a global movement to protect and restore them.
Date: 29th June
The International Day of the Tropics, which is a UN designated day, celebrates the extraordinary biodiversity of the tropics while highlighting unique challenges and opportunities nations of the Tropics face.
It also provides an opportunity to take stock of progress across the tropics, to share tropical stories and expertise and to acknowledge the diversity and potential of the region.
