World Wetlands Day seeks to raise awareness and understanding of what wetlands are and how they can contribute towards restoring them.

World Ostrich Day is held on 2nd February, chosen because the Ostrich has 2 toes on each foot. The Ostrich is a species of flightless bird native to certain large areas of Africa.

World Marmot Day is celebrated mainly in Alaska to reflect the prevalence of many species of marmots in that state, rather than just groundhogs, which are a type of marmot.

World Bonobo Day is a day for anyone who loves bonobos! Bonobos are a type of great ape.
They are endangered due to loss of their rainforest habitat and illegal poaching for meat.

February 15th is the day to celebrate the Hippopotamus.
The hippo is the third largest Mammal and is native to sub-Saharan Africa. They are herbivores. The pygmy hippo is endangered and the common hippo is vulnerable, due to illegal hunting, loss of habitat and climate change.

World Whale Day is observed on third Sunday of February each year. many species of whale are endagered.
Whales are marine mammals and this day highlights the conservation efforts around the world to save these majestic creatures.

Pangolins, sometimes known as scaly anteaters, are the only known mammals to have a protective covering of scales. Pangolins are endangered because of the demand for pangolin scales used in some traditional medicines, and pangolin meat is considered a delicacy in some cultures.
World Pangolin Day is held on the third Saturday of February each year.
Date: 27th February
International Polar Bear Day, was created by Polar Bears International to coincide with the time period when polar bear mothers and cubs are snug in their dens.
It aims to highlight the loss of habitat due to rising sea temperatures and melting of the Arctic ice caps. Protecting cubs at this time of year is vitally important to protecting Polar Bear numbers.
