Marks & Spencer Gives The 'Green Light'

As part of Marks & Spencer’s commitment to Plan A, its £200 million eco plan, the new autumn lighting collection is eco-friendly.  The stylish range of over 40 lines, including pendants, floor lamps and table lamps have all been designed to be compatible with energy saving light bulbs.  This is a small part of the company’s pledge to help its customers live greener lives.

M&S will also be selling a range of energy saving light bulbs from £1.50, including the Energy Saving Sensor Bulb – the light sensitive bulb which switches itself on and off automatically (£9.50).  Using energy efficient light-bulbs reduces the volume of greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emissions, which greatly affect climate change.

For every 1,000 energy saving light bulbs sold by M&S, the volume of CO2 saved each year would fill more than 80 double decker buses.  In addition, as energy-efficient light bulbs use around 80% less energy than conventional bulbs and can last up to 12 times longer.  If every household used three energy saving light bulbs, there would be enough energy to light the country’s streetlights for a year.

So, you save money on your electricity bills – leaving you more to spend on your home.

The new AW07 Home collection, including lighting will launch in stores on 1st August nationwide and will also be available online at www.marksandspencer.com
