Bike Week 2017 is being held from 10th to the 18th June 2017.
Bike week has a long history - it was started by the Cyclists’ Touring Club in 1923 - and it's purpose has always been to encourage more people to cycle, whether for exercise, to get to school or work, or just for fun.
Whether it’s for fun, as a means of getting to work or school, to get to the shops or to visit friends, There are Bike Week events all over the UK which will inspire you to get you onto the saddle.

- It is fast. Cycling is so much faster than waiting in a traffic queue.
- Cycling is cheap. No petrol to buy, and a bike is much cheaper to buy than a car.
- You get to see more of your surroundings. You will be able to see your surroundings much so better than being in a car.
- Cycling is good for the environment. You won't be burning all those fossil fuels in your car, meaning we can all breathe easier.
- Raise Money for Charity. There are lots of sponsored bike rides all over the UK (not just in Bike Week) so you could raise some money for your favorite good cause.
- Cycling is great exercise. Cycling will get you really fit! And that means that...
- You can eat more. All that exercise will mean you can eat more without putting on weight. Plus...
- Cycling makes you happy. The exercise you get from cycling will release endorphns, so cycling is legal high!
- You will sleep better. All that exercise will improve your sleep too.
- Cycling is for all the family. You can spend quality time with all your family, young and old. Everyone can join in,
